We left Padua on the 20th of November and at the moment we are in the sultanate of Oman. Everyone here really loves the sultan... Also, no revolution at the moment. The next stage will be India.
After almost 3 months of travel it may be good to provide some statistics...

ReplyDeletein bocca al lupo !
1)well it depends from the reagion we where but to summarize West turkey: min 15 max 22, Middle tukey: min 10 max 18, east turkey :-1 to 5
ReplyDeleteIn Iran it is a tipic desertic climate. DFuring the day was between 10 and 18 degree, but during the night was mostly below zero. The lowest temperature at which we camped was -7. Completely different on the siuth coast, where is pleasant warm (min 15 max 25).
Now in Oman is everyday as the best summer day in Germany or a normal summer day in Italy. Only during the night might be cooler than in our summer.
2)95% paved 5% not paved
3)Well In turkey we did not assume any, bacause alcool is legal. In Iran not, but there is a quite florid black market. We did never try to buy alcool, we didi not miss it actually, but we drunk togheter when offered from locals (maybe four or five times). We had the impression that sometimes since we are european, to be hospitable they had to offer us alcool. We try to refuse a couple of time, without success.
As regard Haschish, there is of lovely quality from pakistan and Afganistan. We never tried to buy iy, but we accepted when offered(once) in a private hoause. Opium is a common drug in Iran, and even if illegal, it is quite widespread. It comes from Afganistan and in some remote district is grown locally. We smoked it once when insinstently offered from our host who smoked it durind a family dinner with 30 people and childer... It tasted not good and had no relevant effects. Totally worthless to smoke it again.
4)To make it short
Turkey: Cappadocia
Iran: Esfahan
UAE: Nothing
Oman: Wadi Shab
5) Only once, in a cave-hause in coppadocia
For Carlo Zambotti:
Yes we where there! We saw the arrival in Sur. Wwe got a lots of cycling caps, water bottles and energetic bars. All the cyclists we spoke with, where quite surpised of our trip, also because we do not get any money from it...
